Getting started
Updated July 25, 2026
KnowledgeRetention captures what lives in your people's heads and turns it into sourced answers the next person can rely on. Here's how to get value out of it quickly, and what you can expect from us.
Your first hour
- Pick the role that would hurt most to lose. Not the easiest one to document — the one where a resignation would leave you guessing.
- Run a capture session. It's a guided interview; answer in plain language, the way you'd explain it to the person replacing you.
- Ask it something real.Every answer cites the capture it came from, so you can see exactly what it's standing on.
- Invite the people who hold the knowledge. Members are unlimited on every plan — only captured roles are metered.
What we ask of you
- Tell us what's wrong. Bugs, confusion, missing pieces — the 💬 Feedback button lives on every page of your workspace, or email support@knowledgeretention.help. It reaches the team directly, not a queue.
- Don't poke the seams. No reverse-engineering, no attempts to reach other organizations' data (it's isolated at the database layer — but don't try).
What you can expect from us
- Mandatory two-factor auth, per-organization isolation enforced in the database, and no AI training on your content — ever.
- One-click export, any time, on every plan including Free. Your knowledge is yours; leaving is never held hostage.
- Source attribution on every answer. If we can't show you where something came from, we don't assert it.
- Suggestions you share may be used freely to improve the product. Your organization's data is never part of that.
